Upon realizing that I simply can’t keep up with the demand that’s present for my coats alone, I considered both going to Thailand and hiring a seamstress to help with the production. Upon much thought, I realized the solution was closer than I thought.
As a local, hand production, one-of-a-kind, up-cycled and environmentally friendly based designer, why not operate as I do in the rest of my life where I try to buy and hire local and within my community as much as I can. So why not produce local, and by local I mean, why not hire my mom and sister the founders of Generations Quilting (named as such because they are the 4th and 5th generations of quilters in my family. A tradition that has been passed down from mother to daughter since my great great grandmother) to help me produce my Onyx Coats? Why not support their female, family, hand made company as they support mine?

So I’m headed home to San Diego right after my first SF Trunk Sale/fund-raiser for production costs on the coats. Please come out to my trunk sale which in true re-use fashion will be paired with a clothing/costume swap next Thursday October 21st to support re-use and help me produce more coats! Keep posted here and on Facebook for more info.
If you live in California, once my coats are made, in a few weeks, I’ll be scheduling trunk/coat sales in San Diego, Los Angeles and Santa Barbara on my drive back up. Not only do I get to go home and visit my family and two adorable nieces, but I get to see all of my friends along my way home! I love when life, love and being able to support yourself all flow on one path.
